Facebook Ads Cost in India: How Meta Ads Pricing Really Works
There is no price list for Facebook and Instagram ads. You set the budget and an auction decides what each result costs. Here is how that works, and how to spend wisely.
Ask three people what Facebook ads cost and you will get three different answers, because Meta does not publish a price list. You decide how much to spend, and an auction decides what each view, click or enquiry costs you. This guide explains how Facebook ads cost in India is really worked out, what pushes your cost up or down, how budgets behave, and how to plan a first test that tells you something useful.
1. Why Meta ads have no fixed price
Every time someone scrolls Facebook or Instagram, Meta runs an auction to decide which ad to show them. It does not simply pick the highest bidder. Meta weighs your bid against how likely that person is to take the action you want and how relevant and good your ad is. That means a well made ad aimed at the right people can win the auction for less than a weak ad from a business spending more.
2. What decides Facebook ads cost in India
- Your objective: Meta itself says the campaign objective plays a large role in cost. Paying to reach people is usually cheaper per view than asking Meta to find people who will fill a form or buy.
- Your audience: who you target and how many other advertisers want the same people. A very narrow audience gives the auction fewer chances to find a good match.
- Placements: Feed, Stories, Reels and other spots each have their own competition. Letting Meta use Advantage+ placements gives it more room to find cheaper results.
- Ad quality: ads that people hide or ignore cost more to deliver; ads that people stop and respond to cost less.
- Timing: more businesses advertise around festivals such as Diwali and big sale seasons, so competition and costs often rise then.
- Bid strategy: letting Meta spend for the most results is the usual default; cost caps or bid caps give more control but can limit delivery.
3. Facebook, Instagram or both?
Facebook and Instagram ads are bought in the same place, Meta Ads Manager, through the same auction. So the cost of Instagram ads in India is worked out the same way as Facebook ads; there is no separate rate card. A sensible start is to run one campaign across both apps and then check the cost per result for each placement. If you are still deciding between Meta and Google, our comparison of Google Ads and Meta Ads explains where each one fits.
4. How Meta budgets and billing work
- Daily budget: the average you want to spend per day. Meta says it may spend up to 75% more than your daily budget on a good day, but across a week it keeps spend within seven times the daily amount.
- Lifetime budget: a total for the whole campaign. Daily spend can go up and down, but the total stays within the amount you set.
- What you are charged for: most campaigns are charged for impressions (times your ad is shown). Some objectives let you choose to pay for link clicks instead.
The money goes from your payment method straight to Meta, from an ad account that should be in your own business name.
5. The numbers to watch
- CPM: cost per thousand impressions. It shows how competitive the auction is for your audience.
- CPC: cost per click. It shows how many people find your ad worth tapping.
- Cost per result: the cost of each lead, message, booking or sale. This is the number that tells you whether the ads pay for themselves.
Cheap clicks that never become enquiries are not a bargain, so always judge Facebook ads cost in India on cost per result, set against what a customer is worth to you.
6. Other costs to plan for
- GST: budget for GST on top of your ad spend and check with your accountant how it applies to your invoices.
- Creative: photos, short videos and designs. Ads wear out, so plan for fresh creative every few weeks.
- Landing page or form: a fast, focused page, a WhatsApp chat flow or an instant form that asks the right questions.
- Tracking: the Meta Pixel and Conversions API on your website, so Meta can learn which people turn into customers.
- Management: your own time, or an agency fee if someone runs the account for you.
7. How to plan your first test
- Pick one goal and one offer, such as booked consultations for one service.
- Target the areas you actually serve, for example specific parts of Bangalore, rather than all of India.
- Prepare two or three ad variations with different hooks and visuals.
- Set up tracking before you spend anything.
- Run it for at least seven days, which Meta recommends so the system can learn, and avoid changing it every day.
- Check your Advantage+ creative settings. Since 28 October 2026 Meta has been adding product browsing to live ads unless advertisers opt out, which can show people an in-app product page instead of sending them to your website.
8. Ways to bring your cost per result down
- Lead with a clear, specific hook in the first second of a video or the first line of text.
- Show real work, real products and real people rather than generic stock visuals.
- Refresh creative when the same people see the same ad again and again.
- Give the auction room with broader audiences and Advantage+ placements, then let results guide you.
- Exclude existing customers when the goal is new customers.
- Make the next step easy: a fast page, a short form or a quick WhatsApp reply.
9. How we plan Meta ads budgets at B'Skale
We start with a free call to understand your goal, your customers and what a new customer is worth to you. Then we suggest a test budget and a clear plan, set up tracking, and run the campaign from an ad account in your name, so your ad spend goes directly to Meta. Every month you get a report on cost per result, enquiries and what we will change next, and new clients get 20% off their first month of management. Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads in India?
Meta lets you choose your own daily or lifetime budget, so you can start small. What matters more is running a test long enough to learn from: Meta suggests letting a campaign run for at least seven days before judging it.
Are Instagram ads cheaper than Facebook ads?
Not by default. Both are bought through the same Meta auction in Ads Manager, so the cost depends on your audience, objective and how much competition there is for each placement. Run both with Advantage+ placements, then compare the cost per result for each placement in your reports.
Do I pay GST on Meta ads in India?
GST applies to advertising for Indian businesses, but how it appears depends on how your ad account is billed. Keep your business details correct in your Meta billing settings and ask your accountant how to treat the invoices and claim input tax credit.
How much should a small business spend on Meta ads each month?
There is no single right figure. Choose an amount you can comfortably run for a full month as a test, then judge it on the cost of each enquiry or sale rather than on likes, reach or clicks.
Why did my Facebook ads suddenly get more expensive?
Common reasons are more advertisers competing for the same people, for example around festivals, the same ad being shown too many times, a very narrow audience or a change of objective. Fresh creative and a broader audience often bring the cost back down.
