7 Things to Check Before You Hire a Digital Marketing Agency in Bangalore
A good pitch is easy. These are the questions that tell you how an agency will actually treat your business once the contract is signed.
Bangalore has no shortage of digital marketing agencies, and most of them can put together a convincing pitch. The difference shows up after you sign. These seven checks help you find out, before you commit, how an agency will actually work with you.
1. Who will actually work on your account?
The person who pitches is often not the person who runs your campaigns. Ask to meet, or at least speak to, the people who will handle your account day to day, and ask how many other clients they look after. You want experienced hands on your budget, not just in the sales meeting.
2. Who owns the ad accounts, website and data?
Your Google Ads account, Meta Business account, Google Analytics, domain and website should be in your business's name, with the agency given access. If an agency runs everything from its own accounts, you can lose your campaign history, audiences and data if you part ways. Ask this directly and get the answer in writing.
3. How will they report results?
Ask to see a sample report. A useful one talks about leads, enquiries, sales and cost per lead, and explains what changed and why. A report full of impressions and reach with no link to business results is a warning sign. Also ask how often you will get reports, and whether you can see live numbers in between.
4. What will they do in the first 90 days?
A serious agency can describe its first three months: what it will audit, what it will set up, what it will launch and when you should expect early results. Be wary of vague promises, and especially of guarantees like "number one on Google in 30 days". Nobody controls Google's rankings, so nobody can honestly guarantee them.
5. What does the contract say?
Read the terms before you sign. Check the notice period, any minimum lock-in, exactly what the monthly fee covers, and how ad spend is handled. Ad spend should be clearly separate from the agency's fee, so you always know how much went to Google or Meta and how much went to the agency.
6. Have they worked with businesses like yours?
Experience in your industry shortens the learning curve. Ask for examples of similar work and what results it produced. Where clients allow it, ask to speak to one. An agency that is confident in its work will usually find a way to show it.
7. How will you communicate?
Agree up front on one point of contact, how quickly they reply, which channels you will use, whether email, calls or WhatsApp, and how often you will meet to review progress. Many agency relationships go wrong not because of results but because the client never knew what was happening.
A quick checklist to take into the meeting
- Can I meet the people who will run my account?
- Will all accounts and data be in my business's name?
- Can I see a sample monthly report?
- What exactly happens in the first 90 days?
- What is the notice period, and is ad spend separate from your fee?
- Can you show me work for a business like mine?
- Who is my contact, and how fast do you reply?
Any good agency will be happy to answer all seven. If the answers are vague, that tells you something too.
